Quantitative Metabolomics Using NMR
David Chang has been active in the area of metabolomics for over ten years. He is currently the Director of Products and Services at Chenomx Inc., a metabolomics company offering both software and services related to this field. David received both his Bachelor of Applied Science degree and Masters of Applied Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. In the early 2000s David moved to Edmonton, Alberta to pursue his doctorate at the University of Alberta. It was at the University of Alberta that David was first involved in the early discoveries of using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance for metabolomics. His expertise in signal processing, multivariate statistics, and chemometrics was brought on to help researchers in biochemistry and medicine develop the tools needed to interpret the complex frequency domain signals of NMR spectroscopy. His expertise in modeling and statistics also helped researchers interpret the vast amounts of quantitative metabolomics data, which has led to the beginnings of many biomarker diagnostic applications. David joined Chenomx in 2007 to build a contract services group. David leads both the services group as well as software development group at Chenomx.
